Laboratory Environment

Research Laboratories

A rather extensive set of research facilities has been established by the MSRC through corporate donations, equipment, and research grants. A total of three research laboratories spanning the range from devices to technologies to systems make the nucleus of the MSRC research lab infrastructure.

Integrated System Design and Prototyping Laboratory
Provides full device through system level CAD including wafer-level test through PCB physical design and fab.

Micro-Nanosystem Fabrication Laboratory
Provides core microfabrication facilities for the center and university.

Photonics and Microsystems Laboratory
Focuses on Photonic technologies as well as microstructure testing and analysis.

Instructional Laboratory Classrooms

The following instructional labs have been established by the MSRC through two National Science Foundation ILI awards with matching support from the College of Engineering, West Virginia University, and the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Department.

Microelectronic System Prototyping Classroom Laboratory
Provides an aggressive design and prototyping environment supporting supporting a range of courses.

Lightwave Communication System Design and Prototyping Classroom Laboratory
Provides a fiber-spool based prototype network, optics, and communication test and measurement equipment for lightwave and photonic system design and prototyping experiences.
